What is piracy?
Books, inventions, magazines, novels, music, movies, series, reports, stories, software’s, arts, and trademarks all are examples of intellectual property which means that it is the work of someone, or in other words belongs to its inventor. Intellectual property can be protected by a copyright, trademark, patent and in some cases your property can be secured by a multiple kinds of protection. Indeed the right definition for piracy is a theft of intellectual property, or steeling something that doesn’t belong to you.

How to know whether the item you are going to buy is piracy or is legal?
There exist two indicators that can tell us whether the product or work is legal or illegal, "©" or "®" on the product. The "©" means it has copyrights and the "®" means that it is registered in the United States. Indeed it doesn’t mean that if you don’t find any o these indicators, the product is illegal. Sometimes they are not marked, however they are protected by common law rights and other means to protect works, such as contracts and licenses.

Importance for people to know that not everything that they sell is legal:

Many people always think that because something pirate is on sell or on web doesn’t means that they are doing something illegal, however they are doing something illegal. Some people say “But I bought it, if it is on sell it is not my fault” but actually it is their fault because thanks to people like them, piracy still exists. Imagine people stopping from buying illegal or pirate movies, it would totally decrease the creation of these products. So if you think that you are not doing anything wrong by buying it, actually you are so please stop.

Moreover other people say “But I found it on the Web.” Be very careful, it can be difficult to locate and validate copyright information for Web materials because it is an open environment. However don’t confuse the “getting information from web, and copy pasting information from web.” These are two totally different things, in one you are just gathering information and in the other one you are using somebody else property.

Conclusion:

As a conclusion, piracy is illegal and it is a great impact in your life since it makes people not honest and loose. It also makes sure that your artworks will also never be respected since you don’t respect others work. Furthermore, not always piracy is only copy paste, it can also be that they use your artwork but in a better or different way. For example if the teacher says you have to make a poster of things you like, you could draw a girl in the center and make a web from the body of the girl and matching things you like. Imagine that the girl next to you does the same thing just that she adds more color and things she likes, that would also be part of piracy. So remember to be creative and make your own artworks. Finally remember that making or buying piracy products can give you consequences such as jail or a huge fine.
